Ugarit Uncovered

20 points of Uriah the Ugarite's Caananites vs the Mycenean Menace of Dr P.

The Caananites fielded heavy and light chariots, spearmen and a unit of Shassu Fierce foot.

The Sea Peoples used heavy chariots one with guest chariot runners, Fierce foot and bows.

Refugees from the Trojan war this lot.

Getting going.

The Caananitrs use their chariots to counter the enemy's.

A single unit of Ugarit's finest spearmen hold the flanl.  They see off the bows and Fierce foot.

The Shassu are thrown back battered.

But they see off the enemy Sherden

A Sea Peoples general reluctant to move.

Attrition on the chariots, and those chariot runners are a decisive factor in protecting their charges

But finally my general, Uriah the Ugarite, is routed.  His absence means failed Courage tests across the Ugarit host.

Ugarit's last chariot units both fail and retire battered.

About time to drive homewards.  Ugarit retires from the field to hide behind our walls.

The end point.  A bloody encounter all round  but a great looking battle.

Returning to face to face gaming

Gentlemen of Table E.  The first game on table when we return to face to face club gaming will be Gulf Strike.  The membership having voted that this "mega game" has been such a success "return."

I repeat that that the complexity of these rules is officially set at "bake your noodle."

The rules and opening deployments are on our Dropbox along with the ammendments we have been working on for the last eighteen months.  Please do not disclose the access to this outside.

All maps, including the supplements will be used.  The plan as agreed has been to replace the counters with 3mm figures and micro aircraft/ships.  It will look spectacular.

Operational map E from the General magazine additional supplement will replace the 1983 original map E.

The 2nd "Flogger strategem" will in play.  McGurks third ammendment can also be used.

"Buy in" is strictly on knowledge of the rules, (1983 please, none of your 4th edition ... And you know who you are sir).  The game is too complicated for long rules discussions and needs a "press on" attitude.  May I point out yet again that my 2nd edition has the commemorative Desert Shield expansion and "Saddam Strike" sticker on the front of the box.  Just saying.
Again...

What you will need

If anyone has 3mm scale armour it would be welcome.  Questions on Gulf Strike 3D please direct them to Dr P or Captain the Honourable QW, or the Savage McGurk via the blog.  None of these gentlemen have the Saddam commemorative edition but all have proved to be keen Strikers over the last few weeks.
Also our thanks again to Master Nellikyn Trollope for reintroducing us to this lost classic.

The Bishop of Cestria announces his Crusade

Huge de Farthingdale, Lord Bishop of Cestria, Earl of the North, and custodian of the Holy bones has pledged a crusade.   He will be leaving for the Holy Land with his retinue and it is a force that will give the heathen pause.

The Bishop has sworn before the Altar of St Cuthbert that he will deliver the sacred relic of St Lancelot to the Holy Land and lay the Holy bone before the hanging gardens of Jerusalem.  The Bishop has a tenuous grasp of geography.

The Forces of the Righteous

1 x Mounted Men at arms, His Lordship the Bishop with minor Sacred item.

2 mounted Sergeants

1 mounted Yeomen

2 dismounted Men at arms

2 Foot Sergeants

2 Foot Yeomen with Mixed weapons

1 bidowers (Robin of Lumley and ye merry lads)

The Bishop intends to decently flock his troops bases before leading them into battle.
